Interior Trends For Summer ‘24

When it comes to interior design the most sought after styles are changing all the time, making it difficult for the typical homeowner to keep up with the latest trends. We’ve had a look into our own customers’ choices, as well as our stockists’ latest collections, plus a little added research of our own to compile this selection of Interior Trends For Summer ‘24!

Self Expression Through Interior Choices: Contrary to all this talk about ‘trends’, 2024 continues to see people making decisions about their decor based on their own personality and individuality. We are becoming less concerned about strict cohesion throughout the home, and instead going with our guts on fabrics, wallpaper and pieces of furniture that simply bring us joy, intrigue, or serenity. This always makes for a wonderfully interesting room, with plenty of talking points for you and your guests!

Warmer Paint Colours: It was about time that a warmer palette took over from the cool greys we’ve been seeing for the last few years, and we think 2024 might be the year for the official transition! Starting with the release of Little Greene’s Sweet Treats collection back in January, we’re seeing people gravitate towards warmer neutrals and browns within their schemes, along with earthy, nature-inspired tones such as ochre yellows, dusty pinks and rich greens. These colours help to create a soothing space within the home, perfect for unwinding after a long day.

Staying Sustainable: Sustainable and eco-friendly practices are becoming more prevalent year after year and 2024 is no exception when it comes to interior design. Homeowners are trying to make greener decisions where possible, such as investing in natural wool carpets, using water-based, chemical free paint, and choosing high-quality, durable fabrics that won’t need to keep being replaced and are crafted from more Earth-friendly materials, such as organic cotton.

Colour Drenching: Colour drenching is when you take one colour and paint everything in that same shade (and we mean everything - from the walls and ceiling to the skirting boards, doors and radiators!). Saturating a room in a single colour can impact a space in multiple ways: it may help your room to appear larger and give the illusion of height, as there are no harsh lines defining the joins. Sticking to a soft, muted or pastel shade is perfect for nurseries, offices, or any other space in which a feeling of calm and tranquillity would be beneficial, because with no strong contrasting colours the eye can sweep seamlessly across the room. On the other hand, drenching your room in a bolder hue is an easy way to give your space the wow factor and create a powerful maximalism vibe.

Remember to think of ‘interior trends’ as more of a guideline and a bit of inspiration for your home, rather than a strict set of rules that you need to comply with! The most important thing is to make decisions based on what YOU love and believe you will still take joy from in years to come.
