Are you playing host this festive season? Whether you’ve just got a couple of friends staying over, or are entertaining the whole extended family, it’s a great opportunity to give your home a refresh.
But with the big day just around the corner, and purse strings feeling a little tighter this year, why not take the pressure off yourself and simply aim to revamp your entrance hall.
Often an overlooked area when it comes to decor, the hallway is in fact likely to be the first space you and your guests see when entering the house. Therefore, we think it’s super important that it has the wow factor, creates a talking point, or simply feels warm and inviting!
The Wow Factor
Want to hear that ‘oooo’ ‘aaaah’ coming from your loved ones when they walk through your front door? Maximalism decor is making a serious comeback and is a great way to show off your personal style and leave a lasting impression on your guests! Achieve a hallway full of personality by using a bold or colourful wallpaper.

Talking Point
Curate visual interest for those entering your humble abode by experimenting with pops of colour and statement colour combos. If your entryway leads to a door or wall at the end, why not paint it in a bold accent colour to create a focal point - your guests will be drawn towards it and left eager to explore! Be sure to compliment the woodwork with your wall colours - whether that’s utilising the different shades of a family palette, or contrasting colours for a striking and eye-catching impact.

Warm & Inviting
As effective as a bold and adventurous entrance to your home may be, it bodes just as well to create a soothing and welcoming atmosphere for your guests. Use warm neutral shades and add texture through soft furnishings, such as rugs, to create an inviting space that will set the tone for the rest of the house. The addition of mirrors will also produce an illusion of depth if your hall is slim or compact. If your aim is to create a cosy welcome but you’d still like to use colour, why not try earthy shades such as burnt oranges or olive greens.
