We’re super lucky to have such a lovely big window at the front of our Leyburn shop to show off what we offer in store, and our marketing team love to get creative with the displays!
Situated in the heart of the market town, we try to ensure that our shop front looks interesting and inviting to passers-by while advertising both our women's clothing collections and interior brands.
We recently installed our first window display of 2025, so we thought that in this blog we would share with you the thought process and preparation behind the final design.💭
Lauren tends to spend a day at the beginning of January brainstorming rough window display ideas for throughout the year, and she is particularly grateful for Pinterest to help get the creative juices flowing!!
Any ideas immediately get scribbled onto a piece of paper so that they aren’t forgotten about - here’s the initial draft for our current display. (It’s a good job Lauren can decipher what she’s drawn anyway😅)

We often use the latest collections from both our ladieswear and interior brands as inspiration for the designs (as well as bearing in mind the British seasons and weather), and this January was no exception when we fell in love with Little Greene’s wallpaper collection: Storybook Papers. Their eight new whimsical designs simply deserved to be shown off and we decided that lots of splashes of bright, cheerful colours would suit this childhood inspired collection perfectly and would welcome the change in year.
After getting the idea down on paper, Lauren turns to Phoebe for any suggestions, where Phoebe pulls out her trusty iPad and whips together a digitalised version of the final draft so that they can see what it will look like in more detail.

Once happy with the design, the pair of them get cracking with any of the hands-on tasks in preparation for installing the new display! In this particular instance that included painting the stripes onto the floor-to-ceiling backboards, refurbishing the little red desk, cutting the different wallpapers to size, and assembling the paper lanterns.

Lauren and Phoebe are then ready to clear out the previous window display and to start transforming the space into a refreshing welcome for our customers!

We hope you like our first Milners window display of the year, as much as Lauren and Phoebe enjoyed putting it all together! The team really appreciates the feedback that we receive from our lovely customers.💚
